Orange Month- Schools Take Centre Stage

Did you know that in 2023 44 schools participated in the Orange Month commemorations? During that period, KidzCan reached out to over 30,000 children in schools
dotted around the country. Orange Month was born out of Orange Day, an occasion that traditionally used to be celebrated on the 15 th of February during International
Childhood Cancer Day.

To date, the day has transformed to cover the whole month and even beyond as an awareness campaign that also includes fundraising. On Orange Day children attend school clad in
orange and bring a $1 donation that is given to KidzCan. The money goes towards funding services that KidzCan advances to patients free of charge in the treatment of paediatric
cancer sufferers. It has become tradition that schools invite KidzCan to address the pupils and staff. This is usually a special day and an opportunity to share the childhood
cancer story.

The Schools Awareness Programme ensures pupils get to learn about childhood cancer. The information is then cascaded to their families. It is heart-warming that Orange Month is KidzCan’s second-largest fundraiser after the Mudrun, a great tale of locals coming up with local solutions.
